My first post!

Finally!
It became public today!
So now I can start posting some information here.
I have been asked to go to Uganda in mid January to take part in a IES team there during three months. I´m both grateful and humbled by the request, after a short consultation with my wife I gave a affirmative answer.

I was asked December 4th and after that all the preparations have been moving along. Vaccinations, health check-up, dental status, a lot of googling and thinking. How is the culture there? What kind of footwear would be best there? What kind of work will we be involved in? What will my roll be? Should I bring a mosquito net? Questions come and go and I get a lot of support from the IES at IHQ.

My family is and has been a great support. Vi have discussed the possibility that I could get a request to go on a deployment already before I went to the PREPARE Europe training this autumn, so we weren't completely unprepared.
Still my sons first comment was
-no don't go ....:) unless I can come along!
Of course its difficult to leave them for such a long period but at the same time its very exiting to go.

On Friday we are going to Denmark to spend Christmas and New year with my mother and will be returning January 2nd.
If I don´t post anything before then I would like to wish every one of you:

Äntligen!
I dag blev det officiellt! Så nu kan jag börja posta lite information här.
Jag har blivit ombedd att åka till Uganda i mitten av Januari för att arbeta i ett IES team under tre månader. Efter en kort överläggning med min fru så svarade jag Ja med stor glädje men också med mycket stor tillförsikt.

Jag fick förfrågan den 4/12 och sen har alla förberedelser rullat på. Vaccinationer, hälsokontroll, tandkontroll, en hel del googlande och funderande. Hur är kulturen där nere? Vad ska jag ha för skor med mig?, Hur kommer arbetet att se ut? Vad kommer min roll att bli? Ska jag ha med mig ett mosquito nät? Frågorna kommer och går och jag får mycket stöd ifrån IES i mina funderingar.

Familjen är och har varit helt underbara i sitt stöd, Vi har diskuterat möjligheten att jag skulle få en förfrågan redan innan jag åkte på förberedelse- kursen "PREPARE Europe" i höstas så vi var inte helt oförberedda.
Min sons första kommentar var dock
- nä du får inte åka .... :) om inte jag får följa med förstås!
Självklart är det svårt att lämna dem men samtidigt är det jättespännande att åka.

På Fredag kommer vi att åka till Danmark för att fira Jul och Nyår med min mamma och återvänder den 2 Januari till Sverige.
